What is West Coast Swing?
West Coast Swing (WCS) is a smooth and sexy form of swing dancing that is danced to moderate tempo blues, R&B and contemporary music, making it an extremely versatile dance. The look of West Coast Swing can range from soulful and funky to smooth and sleek and it is characterized by it’s elastic look and slotted style.
We have lots of classes in Fairfield to get you started! All classes are held at Morning Star Studio, 51 1/2 S. Court St in Fairfield Iowa.
Beginners
Learn the basics of the dance on Thursday evening at 7:00 PM.
This class is for absolute beginners or those who want to review their basics. No partner necessary
Novice Dancers
Once you’ve learned your basics, join us on Wednesday night at 8:00 PM for continuation of your WCS education.
Each month has a different focus and these blocks will continually rotate. Repeating the various blocks will help the student become more secure in their pattern retention and technique.
Block 1: Additional 6 count patterns
Block 2: Tuck patterns
Block 3: Whip patterns
Beyond Basics
Every Thursday night at 8:00 PM
Students who are interested in continued education in WCS are invited to participate in this Thursday evening class. Focus is on intermediate patterns and additional technique for leading , following and general dance movement.
Classes are $8 per person per class. Special deals are available for those who commit to a full month of class.
